I live by lists. Many years ago, I read David Allen’s book Getting Things Done (affiliate link). He’s an advocate of putting down everything you have to do into lists organized by place or responsibility. I know have a list of some 30 pages or so covering everything: ideas for Christmas presents, things I need to pick up at Target, next steps for a self-publishing project, and states that I haven’t visited yet (Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Vermont, and New Hampshire).
And, of course, I have a list of things to do this summer. Here it is:
Summer things
Art Institute free Thursday evenings
Tuesdays on the Terrace at MCA
Dairy Queen
Regatta
Kayaking with Liz
Kayaking with Catherine
Garden movie at Music Box
I’ve done one, a sailing regatta, and that happened just this past weekend. (my team came in 7th out of 8 teams in challenging conditions.) I have until September 23 to get the rest done. Summer is way too short in the Midwest, and we’re all trying to cram everything we can do into a few short months before the cold sets in. Naturally, we mostly fail, but not for lack of trying.
What do you still want to do? Don’t tell us in the comments; go out and do it!
