Crying in H Mart (Amazon affiliate link) has been a best-seller seemingly forever, and not only because I have been recommending it to almost everyone I know. My husband and I both lost siblings in the last year or so, and we both found the book to be great help in dealing with our grief.
The book is about the death of Michelle Zauner’s mother from cancer, and it’s about so much more: love and families and food and race and music and culture and community and travel. It’s all there. Zauner is also the lead singer of indie band Japanese Breakfast, and my mother-in-law has become a fan. She likes that reminder that you can go through wrenching loss and still make happy music.
