It’s time to clean out my inbox and close my browser tabs by sharing all sorts of interesting articles that I’ve come across in recent weeks:
Anne Lamott on turning 70 (Washington Post gift link): “You have to learn to let go. Otherwise, you get dragged, or you become George Costanza’s father pounding the table and shouting, “Serenity now!”” She is an incredible writer.
The FBI spy who worked for an Illinois gubernatorial campaign (Center for Illinois Politics): Trust me, it’s not what you’re thinking. This is a good read.
The market for resale clothing (ThredUp): The world has a glut of used clothing. ThredUp is an online retailer specializing in secondhand items, and the company publishes an annual report on how we are slowly addressing this issue.
How many bonus tracks are too many? (Popdose): Musicians are trying to make money through the sale of physical albums, and that’s fine, but maybe the special bonus track game is getting out of hand. Keith Creighton examines the issue.
Are you frugal, or cheap? (Chicago Booth Review): Speaking of resale clothing and bonus tracks. . .the author examines the ethics of frugality and argues that frugality produces value and cheapness consumes it.
Also: we visited my sister’s family in Ohio for the eclipse, and my husband and brother-in-law stayed up late to see what YouTube’s algorithm would serve them. They apparently went down some rabbit holes because they discovered The HU, from Mongolia:

I bought a few things from ThredUp for the first time over the past few months. It (and others like Poshmark) are definitely worth checking out.
