The Wedding Planner article was astonishingly well written. I thought "if this is a real wedding planner for the rich and famous, then the article had to be ghostwritten."
Immense natural talent for sure - tempered by real-world experience of not writing for money for decades. I kinda got a "recent MFA grad" vibe from the pace and the polish of this article. It's hard not to show off when you've got chops like hers.
I 'd love to know how the great editors persuade the great writers to dial it back to 8 or 9 now and then so the story looks like it's telling itself. The goal should be for the reader to think "wow what a great story," vs. "wow, what a great writer."
I've been quietly enjoying your content here and thought I'd let you know! Also thanks for the reminder about You're Wrong About. I need to hear more of these.
If you didn't know that the Slough House books were made into a TV series called Slow Horses (2 seasons on Apple TV+, with 2 more seasons in the works), starring Gary Oldman, you know now. SO. GOOD.

Turns out the writer and the wedding planner were the same person. https://www.xochitlgonzalez.com/
Yeah, she's a great writer, isn't she?

I've heard that. We don't have Apple TV, but maybe we'll get a subscription for a month or two.
