I tell my kids: I do my best. They will let me know if I’ve made a mistake --and they have--and at times it’s meant I pay more, other times, it’s meant they pay me.
Sign me up for Sweden. I am sure the tax rate is higher, but I bet satisfaction is higher and anxiety is far lower. I think the US govt wields the tax system as a threat. We fear making mistakes.
Our system is so ridiculous. I could complain about it for hours. To begin with, why aren't estimated taxes paid quarterly? January, April, June, September are three months, two months, three months, and four months apart. Not quarterly!
Oh, and I’d like to see more for the tax money I do pay.
But i really would like it to be an easier, less frightening process.
